9 BLAST Command Line Applications
|
|

11 The NCBI Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) finds regions of
|
|
|
12 local similarity between sequences. The program compares nucleotide or
|
|
|
13 protein sequences to sequence databases and calculates the statistical
|
|
|
14 significance of matches. BLAST can be used to infer functional and
|
|
|
15 evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify
|
|
|
16 members of gene families.
